Stackcrawler MCP for ChatGPT

Connect ChatGPT to Stackcrawler using a remote MCP connection and research website technologies in your conversations.

1. Enable developer mode

In ChatGPT on the web, open Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode. Availability depends on your account and workspace permissions.

2. Add the remote server

Open ChatGPT’s Plugins page and use the plus button to create a developer-mode app. Name it Stackcrawler and enter this MCP server URL:

https://api.stackcrawler.com/mcp

Select OAuth authentication and complete the sign-in and consent flow with the account linked to Stackcrawler. This requires OAuth to be enabled on Stackcrawler’s hosted service.

A Stackcrawler API key is not a replacement for this browser sign-in flow.

3. Use Stackcrawler in a chat

Start a conversation, choose Developer mode from the plus menu, and select Stackcrawler. Ask ChatGPT to use Stackcrawler to scan a website or find sites using a technology.

Try it out

Ask your assistant to use Stackcrawler explicitly:

Use Stackcrawler to scan https://example.com and explain its technology stack.
Use Stackcrawler to find 10 websites using Shopify with English content.
Use Stackcrawler to find websites using the dawn theme.
Use Stackcrawler to show websites where Shopify was recently detected as a new technology.

Connection troubleshooting

Use the full server URL, including /mcp, and the Streamable HTTP transport.
If authentication fails, check your API key or reconnect your Stackcrawler account.
Tool calls use your existing API allowance. Check your usage and subscription in the API dashboard if a request is rejected.
If browser sign-in cannot complete, contact Stackcrawler support. OAuth must be enabled on the hosted service and linked to your Stackcrawler account.
