How do I find the Squarespace template ID? (+ lookup table)

How to find a template ID?
There are mainly two methods to find a SquareSpace template ID: 1) use an online tool (easiest) and 2) check the source code.
1. Use an online tool
When using an online SquareSpace detector tool, you can find the template ID and even the template name in a few steps.
- Copy the URL of a SquareSpace website.
- Paste it into a SquareSpace template detector.
- Check the results!
2. Check the source code
If you prefer the more technical way, checking the source code is the way to do it.
- Right-click on the web page and select “View Page Source.”
- Press CTRL + F to search the page.
- Search for “templateId“.
- If you get a match, the website uses Squarespace.
You can also check the network requests or look for other elements that might identify a Squarespace website.
With the ID, you want to check a SquareSpace Template ID lookup table to identify the theme.

What is a Squarespace template?
A Squarespace template is like a ready-made design for a website that you can pick and customize on Squarespace. It decides how your website looks and works.
You can easily change colors, pictures, and text to make it your own. These templates work well on phones and computers; you don’t need to know coding to use them.
Squarespace has different templates for different kinds of websites, like for artists, shops, or blogs.
It’s all about choosing one that looks good and making it fit your needs.

Template versions 7.0 and 7.1
Squarespace 7.0 and 7.1 are two major versions of the Squarespace platform, each offering different features and design options.
Let us take a deeper look into the two versions:
Squarespace 7.0:
- Template Families: 7.0 has various “families” of templates, each with its unique features and design rules.
- Customization: Offers deep customization options, which can vary significantly from one template family to another.
- Index Pages: Supports Index Pages, which allow you to stack multiple pages into a single scrolling page.
- Parallax Scrolling: Available in some 7.0 templates, adding a 3D effect as you scroll down the page.
Squarespace 7.1:
- Unified Template Base: All 7.1 websites start with the same base template, ensuring consistent features across the board.
- Design Flexibility: Offers more streamlined and flexible design options, making it easier to achieve a cohesive look.
- Sections: Instead of Index Pages, 7.1 uses sections within pages to create varied and engaging layouts.
- No Parallax Scrolling: 7.1 does not support parallax scrolling as a built-in feature.
Choosing between 7.0 and 7.1 depends on your specific needs and preferences.
If you need specific features available only in a 7.0 template family or prefer its parallax scrolling, 7.0 might be the better choice.
If you want a more flexible and straightforward design process with consistent features, 7.1 would suit you better.
